MYP students are provided with meaningful service opportunities to help them connect what they learn in the classroom to real-life encounters in their community. Service opportunities are embedded in the curriculum and initiated by the school.
With appropriate guidance and support, MYP students should, through their engagement with service as action:
- become more aware of their own strengths and areas for growth
- undertake challenges that develop new skills
- discuss, evaluate and plan student-initiated activities
- persevere in action
- work collaboratively with others
- develop international-mindedness through global engagement, multilingualism and intercultural understanding
- consider the ethical implications of their actions.

Service as Learning embedded in the curriculum.
The MYP classroom provides students with opportunities for meaningful service as action. The topic about cell cycle, gave the students a chance to learn about what cancer is and was able to explore its different causes. Afterwhich, they were asked to create a carcinogen profile poster, that they could share with their community, in order to post awareness about the different carcinogens present around us.
