What are your favorite memories of NIS?

I have numerous favorite memories of NIS from the last six years. Among the others, knowing priceless friends and teachers is definitely one of the better things I’ve received from NIS. Playing sports with friends, no matter whether we won or lost, also gave me unforgettable memories; and I can’t imagine my life without them. Not only that, with an active student government program, I was able to dedicate myself to participating in community services and share my talents. These activities not only made myself become a better person, but also undeniably influenced me to know and understand others from a different perspective. I believe that memories from NIS will be remembered forever.

What are your future plans after graduation?

My academic interest falls into Exergoeconomics, or economics of the energy-related field. My interest in this field is entirely due to our family business concerns. My family runs a company which manufactures energy-saving devices such as harmonic filters and power factor systems. By using power factor systems in generators, more than 40 percent of energy is saved and used in more efficient way. Therefore, my ultimate goal is to create a similar factor system that is efficiently applicable to developing countries. I am looking forward to modelling a system that calculates the amount of energy that is used, wasted, and could be saved.

It is inarguably true that we are facing a depletion of natural resources and environmental disasters when man-made energy such as electricity is produced. No matter where, and what type of energy is produced, there is inevitably inefficiency. By saving this lost energy, developing nations could become better-off by preserving natural resources. I believe that even though the study of Exergoeconomics is just a small step toward tackling current environmental problems, it would indubitably improve the efficiency of producing and transmitting energy such as electricity.
