Student Council

Monthly Newsletter

1October has been a busy and successful month for the Student Council, we planned and completed several different projects.  First, we assisted the Angeles City Police Department by promoting their annual ACPD Fun Run, which promotes wellness and local charities,  97 students, parents, faculty members and friends of NIS participated in this worthwhile event.  The school took home three awards: Most Participants (for the 3rd consecutive year), Youngest Runner: Jimmy Hammer, and the Most Beautiful Runner: Michelle Mitchell.

3Secondly, we concluded the annual School Pride T-shirt and Hoodie Design Contest.  There were more than 60 creative entries, all designed by students in grades 5 – 12.   Congratulations to the winners, who were both seniors:  WooJin Choi won for one t-shirt design and the best hoodie design, while HyeYoung Lee designed two winning t-shirts.  T-shirts have already been ordered and are now on sale for P300 each in the book store.  Show your NIS PRIDE and buy your shirt today all proceeds from sales go to support student council activities.4

We also made a site survey to our adopted grade school Apung Gidung Nepomuceno Elementary School, in preparation for our major community service project for this school year and beyond.  Our engagement is scheduled for Saturday, November 5th at 8:00AM.  Students will clean the school yard and clear it from safety hazards, future endeavors include replacing windows, painting classrooms and upgrading restrooms with new toilets and sinks. Trisha Joy Sicat, is the student leader in charge.   Parents are encouraged to participate in this project.  Contact the NIS front desk for more information.

Lastly, final planning for the Fall Festival has been completed.  We wish to thank all of the parents who donated time, cakes, candy and moral support.  We will summarize the event itself in next month’s newsletter

Expect greater things in the future. For recent news, keep up with weekly updates through the class representatives. Wishing you all a good day!
