How to Apply
Step 1: Application Form
Fill out application form; this is a four-part form that requires a 2” x 2” current picture of the applicant.
Step 2: School Transcripts and Records
It is recommended that complete transcripts from all of your child’s previous schools be submitted to the Admissions Office to be retained as a part of your child’s permanent school record. However, if this is not possible, the previous three years school records (if applicable) must be submitted. All school records must be authenticated or notarized as true copies. Foreign students seeking student visa or student study permit must have their records authenticated by the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in their country of origin. Submission of school records is mandatory for admission and placement. All records have to be translated into English.
Step 3: Recommendation Letters
Recommendation letters from the classroom teacher of Primary School applicants or the English and Mathematics teachers for Middle School and High School applicants are required so that the child’s strengths, weaknesses and academic background are identified.
Step 4: Passport (Foreign Students Only)
A valid passport with entry visa must be presented when submitting the application form.
A photocopy of the first page and entry visa are required for the student’s records.
Step 5: Birth Certificate
An authenticated or notarized birth certificate must be presented with the application form. Foreign students must have the birth certificate authenticated by the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in their country of origin. All records must be translated into English.
Step 6: Immunization History
Your child’s immunization record must include vaccination for:
• DPT (Diphtheria/Pertussis/Tetanus
• Oral Polio
• Measles
• Mumps
• Rubella
• Hepatitis A
• Hepatitis B
Step 7: School Physical Examination
A school physical examination is required on all students applying for admission to NIS. This is to protect all students from communicable diseases. Simply fill out the health questionnaire on the application, our school physician will sign the medical clearance.
Step 8: Entrance Examination
Entrance examination: All applicants seeking entry into Grade One and above will be tested. Entrance examinations are normally given, following a review of the application and school records by the Admissions office.
Step 9: English as a Second Language (ESL)
All students who are not native speakers of English will be required to take an English Proficiency Test. Each student will be assessed to determine his or her level of speaking, reading and comprehension. The student will be placed in an appropriate level of the English as a Second Language Program (ESL) to ensure academic success. It is imperative that ESL students graduate from the ESL program by the end of Grade 10.
Step 10: Photographs
All students are required to submit four (2” x 2”) and five (1” x 1”) passport quality photographs to be retained for school use in their student records.
Step 11: Submission of Application Form
Once you have completed steps One through Ten, you are ready to submit the Application Form to the Admissions Office. At this time you will be required to pay a $100 non-refundable application fee. Once the Admissions Office has verified that all of your requirements are complete, your application will be forwarded to the Director of Admissions for a final admission decision.
Admission
Step 1: Payment of Tuition Fees
Tuition fees must be paid before the enrollment process can be continued; a refundable deposit of $1,000 is required for each student. This deposit is placed in a trust and is refunded when the student graduates or is transferred from NIS.
Step 2: Special Study Permit
All foreign students must have a Special Study Permit to enroll. If your child does not possess it, NIS will assist you in obtaining. The following documents are required to apply:
o Plain photocopy of passport reflecting applicant’s bio-page and authorized stay.
o Duly notarized letter request from the applicant/petitioner addressed to Alien Control Officer, Bureau of Immigration.
o General application form duly accomplished and notarized (BI Form MCL-07-01)
o Certificate of Acceptance issued by the learning institution duly accredited by the Bureau of Immigration to accept foreign students.
o Plain photocopy of guardian’s passport and valid visa/petitioner.
o One piece 2” x 2” passport quality photographs.
Step 3: English as a Second Language (ESL)
If it is determined that your child needs to be enrolled in the English as a Second Language (ESL) Program or if you desire to enroll your child into ESL, additional charges will be levied to the tuition fee.
Step 4: Book Purchase
Textbooks for all subjects can be purchased at the NIS book store.
Step 5: School Uniforms
School uniforms and PE uniforms can be purchased at the school book store; all students are required to wear a proper school uniform every day.
Step 6: School Identification Card
All students are required to have an official NIS Identification Card; ID cards are purchased at the Admissions Office.
Step 7: School Bus (optional)
If you desire to utilize the school bus, you must sign up at the Admissions Office.
Step 8: Class Schedule
Once you have paid the tuition and additional fees you will receive an Official Receipt of Payment and a Clearance signature on your enrolment form. Present this information to the Admissions Office and you will be given a class schedule and further information about school programs.
