General

Students are expected to behave themselves in a courteous and orderly manner at all times.

Following are listed some specific guidelines to govern student behavior:
  1. Students are expected to be respectful toward all NIS personnel and students.
  2. All students are asked to be courteous and not interrupt the teacher or another classmate.  Disruptive student behavior is not permitted in the classroom; this means no unnecessary talking, horseplay, or any such conduct that disrupts the teacher and the class.
  3. Each student is expected to come to class with paper, a writing instrument, and all appropriate materials for that class.
  4. Students must not lean back or tip their chairs.
  5. Personal radios, tape players, walkmans, MP3 players, and electronic games should not be used on campus during school hours. I-Pods should be utilized after school as well except where appropriate for academic purposes under the direction of a teacher during the school day.
  6. Gum chewing is not allowed at school.
  7. Students are not to eat in the classroom unless authorized by the teacher.
  8. During class time, students may go to the toilets only with teacher permission.
  9. Students must be in their seats when class begins. A late student is a disruption.
  10. No students should be in any classroom or the gymnasium before school, during lunch or at recess without specific permission from a teacher.
  11. Vulgar language or gestures are not acceptable.
  12. Inappropriate displays of affection are not acceptable.
